I am in my fifth year of work at Kings Island. I began in 2017 as a stage technician on The Amazing Dobermans and was the Mix Engineer for Tinker's Toy Factory during Winterfest. The following year I was a roaming technician for the summer and mixed Tinker's Toy Factory again for Winterfest. In 2019 I began to grow a little more and was the Audio Area Supervisor and was promoted to the Department Supervisor for Haunt. In 2020, I continued to grow as a leader as the Department Supervisor and currently I am the Department Supervisor of Audio, Video and Lighting. I get to do something different each day and that is what makes Kings Island so special to me. I am continuing to learn and develop myself as a leader and I am grateful for the opportunities I am given each day.

International Street Lighting

Summer 2021
Shows such as Area 72 Launch Party and Center Stage Live required a lot of planning and preparation. Both shows had a large lighting, video, and truss install. Leading a crew of about 10 people through these installs was a learning experience. From these installs, I learned that clear instructions are very important and time management is key. I have been a part of many show and event installs in my years at Kings Island. Each one is unique and comes with its challenges. The installs seem to get bigger each year but with that, I have expanded my knowledge of lighting, software, audio and so much more.
At Kings Island, most of our shows run via QLab. I have made most of the QLab files for the shows. Some files are small and some of them are more complex. The first screenshot to the right is from Tinker's Toy Factory. This show had many complex video cues. The second photo is from PEANUTS™ Celebration and there were a lot of videos in this file. Building these files gave me experience with fading video and building organized files. Building QLab files is relaxing and I enjoy making them as user friendly as possible.

Dayton started adding more songs throughout the season and I was offered the chance to program a song. I was given "Let It Go" from Frozen. This was my first time programming lights to music and it was also my first time using Madrix to program. I learned a lot about Madrix and thoroughly enjoyed programming this song.
In Winter of 2020, I was approached by a colleague to assist with installing a lighting display synced to music in Dayton, Ohio. I spent many nights wrapping trees with pixel lights and wiring up the control boxes for the trees. All of the trees communicated with one another wirelessly with Ubiquiti Nano Beams and an AirMax Prism. This project gave me hands on experience with new equipment and expanded my lighting knowledge even more.

In Spring of 2021, I became a licensed Pyrotechnics Exhibitor Assistant for Rozzi Fireworks. I have assisted on a variety of shows that range from two modules to 20+ modules. Some notable shows are Fourth of July at Kings Dominion, Cincinnati's Juneteenth Celebration, and Cincinnati's WEBN Riverfest Fireworks. For the Cincinnati Juneteenth show, I scripted the entire 20 minute show using the COBRA™ firing system. All of these shows required a lot of focus, planning, and patience. Each show had its challenges and they gave me insight into different leadership styles and how to work with unique personalities. Along with the COBRA™ system I also have quite a bit of experience with FireOne.
